ChessFest Hull

10am-4pm, Sunday 12th July 2026

ChessFest returns to Hull this July for a day of fun, family-friendly, free chess activities. Please join us and our amazing team for a great day out. From young to old, beginner to grandmaster, ChessFest Hull has something for everyone. Our amazing team are currently working on the schedule for the day but here’s last year’s listing so you know what to expect:

  • a children’s rapidplay tournament

  • plenty of chess sets available for members of the public to play casual games

  • the chance to test chess skills against HERCA experts

  • CSC tutors to advise people on how to improve their game

  • a live link-up with the ChessFest event in Trafalgar Square

  • games broadcast on a giant screen

  • an online challenge match with a team from London.

How to get to Princes Quay Shopping Centre

By Train

Hull Paragon Station
Hull Paragon Station is 300 metres from Princes Quay. There are 5 daily direct services from London. Arriva Trains Northern operates an hourly service from Manchester, Leeds and Sheffield, a regular service from York with connections to Edinburgh, Newcastle, and Teeside. A half hourly service operates from Doncaster and Bridlington.

By Car

Princes Quay is only a couple of minutes’ drive from the A63 and is well signposted. The car park has space for over 900 cars. When using Sat Nav you enter post code HU1 2NL for access via the car park which is situated behind the centre. For AA Routefinder please enter postcode HU1 2PQ.
