
ChessFest Hull returns to Princes Quay Shopping Centre, Hull, HU1 2PQ on Sunday 13th July 2025
ChessFest Hull - Free fun for all the family!
A free chess festival will take place at the Princes Quay Shopping Centre in the heart of Hull.
Chess in Schools and Communities and the Hull and East Riding Chess Association are holding their annual celebration of chess on Sunday, July 13th, part of ChessFest 2025. The event will feature:
a children’s rapidplay tournament
plenty of chess sets available for members of the public to play casual games
the chance to test chess skills against HERCA experts
CSC tutors to advise people on how to improve their game
a live link-up with the ChessFest event in Trafalgar Square
games broadcast on a giant screen
an online challenge match with a team from London.
Individuals, groups and families are all welcome to take part in this fun, family-friendly, and completely free event.

How to get to Princes Quay Shopping Centre
By Train
Hull Paragon Station
Hull Paragon Station is 300 metres from Princes Quay. There are 5 daily direct services from London. Arriva Trains Northern operates an hourly service from Manchester, Leeds and Sheffield, a regular service from York with connections to Edinburgh, Newcastle, and Teeside. A half hourly service operates from Doncaster and Bridlington.
By Car
Princes Quay is only a couple of minutes’ drive from the A63 and is well signposted. The car park has space for over 900 cars. When using Sat Nav you enter post code HU1 2NL for access via the car park which is situated behind the centre. For AA Routefinder please enter postcode HU1 2PQ.
