ChessFest Portishead 2025

A Free Chess Festival in Portishead

We are delighted to announce that ChessFest will descend on the lovely seaside town of Portishead on Saturday 12th July. Thanks to the work of CSC’s amazing Regional Coordinating Team, Portishead already hosts a thriving junior tournament and has a chess club in every primary school. This will be our first visit to the town but we hope to make it an annual event.

Plans for the event are still being made but you can expect:

• free chess lessons for children and adults

• a simultaneous display by one of the West Country’s strongest players

• re-enactments of famous games of chess on our living chess board, performed by the Portishead Players and local school children

• a special guest appearance by ChessKid’s Fun Master Mike Klein
